    Traditionally red stew is fried in lots of palm oil to give it that glistening look. This is a healthier alternative to red stew as we have taken out the palm oil and instead used very little sunflower oil, making it perfect if you are trying to cut down on calories but still want to enjoy your stew!

    This dish is a healthier alternative to plain rice and stew. We have swapped rice for bulgur wheat and fried fish stew for baked cod stew.

    Bulgur wheat (also known as bulgar wheat) is often called a super grain as it is has no fat, contains fewer calories than rice, is low carb and contains a whole lot of fiber. It is somewhat similar in texture to cous cous but has a lovely rich flavour. Our baked cod stew is very nearly oil-free, making it that little bit easier for you to watch the calories without compromising on taste. And if you have a sweet tooth, this dish comes with grilled plantain offering you a guilt-free way to satisfy your cravings.

It is very similar to West Africa's traditional stewed beans / beans porridge / red-red, but we have used red lentils instead of black eyed beans. This dish is not cooked using palm oil and in fact contains very little oil. We cook the red lentils in blended peppers & onions, along with plantain, yam, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. This is a tasty dish low in calories but rich in protein, fibre and nutrients.
